Zoom® Fire-30 Modeling Guitar Amplifier

From vintage combo to modern high gain amp sounds, Fire amps give you the tone you want at the turn of a knob!

From vintage tube, to acoustic, to solid state thrash metal—Zoom amps have it all. The Fire-30 combo boosts the power to 30 watts, and provides a 9.5" (25 mm) speaker. The Fire-30 features 22 great sounding amp models and 18 editable Zoom effects. Standards like Chorus, Flanger, Phase, Delay, and Reverb as well as modern sounds like Ring Modulator and Slow Attack.

The Fire-30 also provides and easy-to-use front panel control section for Delay and Reverb effects. A Type/Time control selects the type and the duration of the effect. The corresponding Mix knob adjusts the depth of the Delay or Reverb.

The Fire-30 also features a Modulation control that allows the user to control the intensity of modulation effects with the turn of a dial.

Built-in memory allows you to save up to 10 of your own effect combinations, or "patches". Recall any setting anytime, including effects and amp models. Preset patches are also built-in that simulate classic amplifier tones.

Fire amps also offer four post-effect processing tools: Boost, Sustain, Edge and Bottom. Control knobs allow you to adjust Level, Gain and a three band EQ with Bass, Middle and Treble controls. Fire Amps even have a chromatic tuner built-in. The Fire-30 features a jack for the Zoom FS-01 foot switch, that allows the user to switch between any two patches in memory. Fire Amps have CD/Aux input, and a headphone/direct output jack, making them great tools for the studio. Zoom noise reduction is built-in, as well as a Power Damp feature for great tone at low volume.

Reflection

I've been playing with the Fire-30 for several weeks now. The built-in effects are fun to play with. I especially like the Slow-A effect which allows you to dial in a delay for the note. It makes a sound sort of like a cello being played, and is very nice for slow melodic single-note picking. The amp modeling is very accurate. There are specific modes that imitate Fender and Marshall, for instance. Each mode has a "vintage" and a "standard" setting. Very cool! I especially love the Fender vintage sound with its deep bass and singing highs.

It also has a reverb knob to allow sound sculpting based on room size. I leave mine set on "Hall" most of the time for a slight reverb echo effect that really makes my Les Paul sound cool. I can close my eyes and imagine myself in an out-of-the-way, smoky, dark club. The drummer is tapping out his rythmic beat, the bass is thumping, and my Les Paul is crying the blues to the drink sipping people in the dark booths.

You ought to at least look one of these up, and try it out. It has a noise-reduction circuit that Zoom calls "ZNR." This circuit really works. You know how your amp will hum and buzz when you have your fingers off of the strings? Well, not with this amp. The ZNR really works! As soon as your fingers leave the strings, and they stop vibrating normal tones, the ZNR circuit clamps down, and there is NO spurious sound. It's really cool!

I enjoy my Zoom Fire-30 amp, and recommend it to others. The price is right, and the features are great.
